Contest Sports and Media took ownership of the English Half Marathon in 2012 when it was a 1000 runner local race on the outskirts of Warrington which was largely seen as a hindrance by the Borough Council.
Since then we have transformed the event! We now have 5000+ runners across three distances all starting and finishing in central Warrington, been shortlisted for the nation’s best Half Marathon two years running, have the firm backing and support of the Borough council at all levels and draw runners from all over the country and even some from overseas.

Since 2014, Rock ‘n’ Roll Liverpool Marathon has become one of the fastest growing and most respected road running events in the country.
Using our knowledge and experience of stakeholder management, city council processes and operational excellence, Contest Sports and Media Ltd provide a turnkey solution to deliver the event on behalf of Competitor Group Inc. We work closely with Liverpool city council to fulfill city objectives for participation, tourism and economic impact. We also handle the domestic event marketing, customer service, sponsorship activation, course operations and road closures, stakeholder liaison, community relations and a broad spectrum of event management roles.
We are well on our way to hitting a target of 20,000 runners within 5 years of inception. Watch this space!
